Prepare Prepare Prepare

While camping this summer a friend pointed out some cloud formations and said when you see them you know a storm is coming. Indeed we already knew one was coming. It arrived with one of the longest and grandest lighting display I have ever seen or didn’t see as it was lighting up the sky through dense cloud cover. This appears to be true today with the economy. The news is of an improving economy, but the clouds on the horizon tell a different story.

The housing bubble caused the stock market to crash. The Fed created the current Treasury bubble of late 2008-2009 pumping over 10 trillion into the economy through loans, simply creating it out of thin air and guarantees. One night alone the fed created and distributed one trillion dollars. When asked how it was done, it was said to be easy, you simply go into a banks account and type in an additional say 200 million dollars to their account.  Talk of a double dip recession has waned yet now their is talk that the stock market has topped and will fall in January.  [Note this may have changed when the G-20 announced its decision to extend the easy monetary policy  November 6, 2009.]

On Saturday October 29, I gave you four more reasons jobs will continue to be lost and the cost of living will rise:  The Fed continues to devalue the dollar.  Health Care Reform. Cap and Trade . UNFCCC Framework Convention on Climate Change – United Nations.

This week the Fed asked for a permanent Tarp II, asked if a trillion dollars was enough, the answer was “no!” We are currently on top of two economic bubbles: the Treasury bubble of late 2008-2009 and the commercial real estate bubble which has or will burst in the very near future.

[Nov. 17th Update: There is now talk that the Fed's Easy money policy has created an Asset bubble. And, that it will burst without notice when the Fed increases the interest rates. It was also stated that the Fed and/or  the Government will dump its assets immediately before the public can react.]

Monday night Glenn Beck interrupted his broadcast to tell people it was time to build an ark, prepare. If you follow Glenn Beck you know he research’s his facts quite extensively, he is very thorough. He told his audience to get out of the stock market months before the crash, he has not gotten back in. No he is not an economist or a stock market guru (and neither am I), but perhaps he can read the clouds.

Preparing simply moves purchases forward. You purchase today what you will need over the next two or three years… clothes shoes, socks, underwear, all make good Christmas gifts. Dried beans and rice stored in food grade plastic bags in 4 gallon plastic or metal (rat proof) buckets. Canned meat and vegetables. Vitamins and supplements. Organic heirloom seeds for planting. Water and water filters.. A solar oven can be hand crafted. firewood, etc. (generators and lights tell the whole city you prepared, use single LED flash lights with the curtains closed.)  See Survival Resource for information and links to help you properly prepare and properly store food. Remember prepare, but be careful who you tell as you can’t feed everyone. You may find your the only one in the family that will prepare. Then, you will be serving three bean soup and you do mean three beans in the soup!

Perhaps things will continue to improve. Prepare as best you can.  – Preparing will save you money on tomorrows purchases and you will rest easier, especially if things get tough.
